Recently, Donghua Energy's wholly-owned subsidiary invested in the construction of Donghua Energy's 10000 ton carbon fiber project in the Binhai New Area of Maoming, Guangdong, with a total investment of approximately 3.465 billion yuan. As a key link in the downstream industrial chain of Maoming Zero Carbon Industrial Park, this project will build a new material industry with carbon fiber as the core.
The overall design of this project is an annual production capacity of 10000 tons of high-performance carbon fiber industrialization construction project, which will be completed in two phases. We plan to build 4 sets of flexible production lines, which can achieve an annual production capacity of 10000 tons of high-performance carbon fiber; Supporting the construction of 40000 tons of polyacrylonitrile based polymerization line, 4 spinning lines, and 4 carbonization lines per year, which can achieve a production capacity of 8000 tons of carbon fiber and 23840 tons of polyacrylonitrile powder. At the same time, one solution polymerization system is reserved for flexible scientific research work.
In terms of production capacity planning, the first phase of the project will build 2 spinning lines and 2 carbonization lines, along with 1 set of two-step polymerization production line with a capacity of 10000 tons. It will also be equipped with production facilities for dissolution, recovery, water production, nitrogen production, and power production. After completion, the annual production capacity of high-performance carbon fiber will reach 4800 tons. The first phase of the project has a construction investment of 1.588 billion yuan, with a total investment of 1.786 billion yuan.
In the second phase of the project, two new spinning lines, two carbonization lines, and one two-step polymerization line with a capacity of 30000 tons will be constructed. After the completion of the two phases, the annual production capacity of high-performance carbon fiber and 23840 tons of polyacrylonitrile powder can be achieved.
In terms of process technology, under the overall planning of Zhongguancun Rand Innovation Research Institute, the carbon fiber team of Shandong University and Donghua Energy worked together to successfully break through the key technology of T1000 level high-performance carbon fiber in 18 years, with independent intellectual property rights. The project will adopt aqueous precipitation polymerization, DMSO dissolution, dry spray wet spinning, and two-step preparation process, which can achieve industrial production of T800/T1000 carbon fibers. Featuring advanced and reliable technology, stable device operation, and low production costs, the product has strong market competitiveness both internationally and domestically. In the early stage, the raw material acrylonitrile will be sourced externally to meet the demand, and in the future, the industrial chain of propane propylene acrylonitrile carbon fiber will gradually be closed.
Donghua Energy stated that this project is a crucial step for the company to transform and upgrade from propane dehydrogenation to downstream polymer composite materials with carbon fiber as the core.
