On June 5, 2024, Unit 3 of Sanmen Nuclear Power Plant successfully completed the hoisting of the three rings of its steel containment cylinder. The smooth realization of this important step marked the completion of the entire 6-7th floor of the shielded factory building SC. The construction of the three rings of the steel containment shell is extremely precise and huge. It is composed of three rings of steel plates with a thickness of 44.5 mm. Its inner diameter is approximately 39.6 meters, and the overall height is as high as 11.6 meters. The total weight of the entire hoisting operation Reaching an astonishing 826 tons. This innovative approach not only greatly saves the installation time of various items on the island, but also effectively reduces the risk of cross-operations and significantly improves the work efficiency on the construction site.

In this hoisting operation of the third ring of the steel containment cylinder, Shanghai Nuclear Engineering Institute fully drew on the practical experience accumulated in the previous hoisting operations of the first and second rings. They carefully formulated an integrated plan that combines transportation and hoisting, and continued to track and advance the work progress through daily engineering meetings. On the premise of ensuring safety and quality, they optimized the construction logic and improved the connection efficiency between various links, thus successfully achieving the early placement of the three rings of the steel containment barrel.
