On the afternoon of June 17, local time, Premier Li Qiang met with Australian opposition leader Peter Dutton in Canberra.

Li Qiang said that the stability and continuous development of China-Australia relations are in the best interests of the two countries and are also conducive to regional peace, stability and prosperity. China is willing to work with all sectors of the Australian government and opposition to further strengthen dialogue and communication, deepen political mutual trust, expand mutually beneficial cooperation, properly handle differences, and promote new and greater development of the China-Australia comprehensive strategic partnership to better benefit the people of the two countries.

Li Qiang pointed out that since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1972, China-Australia relations have long been at the forefront of China's relations with Western countries, and pragmatic cooperation has achieved fruitful results, bringing well-being to the people of the two countries. This fully shows that the development of China and Australia is an important opportunity for each other. It is hoped that all sectors of Australia will continue to view China's development objectively, support the deepening and solidification of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries, and contribute to the healthy and stable development of China-Australia relations. China regards Australia as an important force in the process of world multipolarization and is willing to strengthen communication and coordination with Australia in multilateral fields, jointly safeguard multilateralism, advocate free trade, and jointly respond to global challenges such as climate change.

Dutton said that Australia-China relations are of vital importance. The Australian opposition party is happy to see China's development and prosperity and regards China as a partner, and hopes that Australia-China relations will develop steadily.
