On July 30, 2024, the construction of Zhejiang Huadian Wuxijiang Mixed pumped Storage Power Station (referred to as Wuxijiang Mixed Storage Power Station), located in Hunan Town, Qujiang District, officially started. Zhou Weibing, Standing Committee of Quzhou Municipal Committee and Executive Vice Mayor attended the meeting. Fan Aibing, general manager and deputy Party secretary of Huadian Zhejiang Company, announced the start of the project.

The Wuxijiang Mixed storage Power Station project, as an important part of the national pumped storage planning, has been listed in the "Medium and Long-term Pumped Storage Development Plan (2021-2035)", marking its strategic position and far-reaching influence. The project is not only a bright pearl of Zhejiang Province's thousand trillion grand blueprint, spending 2.3 billion yuan, across 794 acres of land, designed installed capacity of up to 298MW, annual power generation is expected to reach 298 million KWH, showing strong energy production potential. Since the official approval of the Zhejiang Provincial Development and Reform Commission in early 2023, the project is steadily moving towards the production target of 2028, indicating that a new force in the clean energy field is about to rise.

The completion of Wuxijiang mixed storage power station not only means that Zhejiang's power grid will add a strong peak load capacity, but also will optimize energy allocation through seamless docking of 220 kV power grids, and promote the green transformation of regional energy structure. Its unique operating characteristics will perfectly complement the surrounding wind power and photovoltaic power stations, jointly promote the maximum utilization of regional scenic resources, and significantly improve the water level regulation efficiency of Hunan Town Reservoir, contributing to water resources management and environmental protection.

GUI Liqing warmly congratulated the smooth start of the Wuxijiang mixed storage Power Station project, calling it a key project that Qujiang people are looking forward to. The project cleverly utilizes the resources of the existing Hunan town and Huangtankou Reservoir, showing the unique advantages of environmental protection and efficiency, investment intensive and rapid construction, and injecting strong impetus into the green growth of Qujiang's social economy.
