Recently, China Electric Engineering Consulting Corporation, as the leading party, formed a consortium with PSI in Kazakhstan to sign a FEED design contract with Kazchrome, a wholly-owned subsidiary of ERG Group, for the Aktobe Ferroalloy Plant waste gas power generation project.
The Aktobe project plans to construct a power generation unit with a designed installed capacity of 80 megawatts in the Aktobe ferroalloy plant area, consisting of 2 steam power boilers and 1 steam turbine unit. The main fuel will be the by-product ferroalloy gas produced in the No. 4 smelting workshop of the Aktobe ferroalloy plant, with natural gas as the reserve and stable fuel.
The Aktobe Ferroalloy Plant Waste Gas Power Generation Project, as a green energy project that integrates environmental protection, efficiency, and innovation, focuses on converting the waste gas generated during the ferroalloy production process - ferroalloy gas - into valuable power resources. The 80 MW generator set planned for construction in the project is composed of advanced steam power boilers and steam turbine units. It not only effectively utilizes the by-product of ferroalloy gas to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, but also uses natural gas as a reserve and stable fuel to ensure the continuous and stable operation of the power generation system. This design not only improves resource utilization efficiency, but also significantly reduces dependence on traditional energy, setting an example for Kazakhstan and even the global energy transition.
FEED design, as an important stage in the early stages of a project, aims to lay a solid foundation for the signing of EPC contracts and subsequent engineering implementation through detailed technical research and economic analysis. China Electric Engineering Consulting Corporation and PSI consortium will fully utilize their rich experience and professional advantages in engineering design, technical consulting, and project management to comprehensively and deeply evaluate and optimize the feasibility, technical solutions, equipment selection, cost estimation, etc. of the project, ensuring that the project meets Kazakhstan's national appraisal requirements while achieving the goals of advanced technology, economic rationality, and environmental friendliness. Keywords: the Belt and Road news, the Belt and Road project, overseas project.
In addition, the successful implementation of this project will have a positive driving effect on the local economy, promote employment growth, enhance the technological level and international competitiveness of the energy industry. At the same time, as a model of green energy projects, it will also provide valuable experience and demonstration effects for energy structure adjustment and sustainable development in Kazakhstan and even Central Asia.
