On September 2, 2024, it was learned that the hydrogen production and refueling integrated station project in Abagaqi, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region is located in the factory area of Jingneng Chagannaoer Power Plant. The project uses green electricity generated by wind and photovoltaic power to produce hydrogen through water electrolysis. The overall scale of the project is 2000Nm ³/h (1200 tons/year hydrogen production capacity), which is used to supply hydrogen fuel cell heavy-duty trucks for coal and ash transportation, as well as to support local energy transformation demonstration public transportation, logistics and other needs.
It is reported that after the overall project reaches full capacity, it will produce and sell 1200 tons of hydrogen annually, meeting the hydrogen demand of 60 hydrogen powered heavy-duty trucks. It can replace more than 2500 tons of diesel and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 8000 tons. It can play a supporting role in local energy structure adjustment and achieving the dual carbon goal.
The source of electricity for hydrogen production is the abandoned power from the Beijing Energy Million Kilowatt Wind and Solar Power Base, and the water source is desalinated water from the boiler flue gas of the power plant. The first phase of the hydrogen production project has been steadily running. From January to August 2024, electrolytic water hydrogen production was carried out 13 times, with a hydrogen production capacity of 276.94 kg. The power plant's generator units were supplied with hydrogen 115 times, with a hydrogen supply capacity of 362.236 kg; Among them, 77.82 kg will be replenished from the hydrogen storage bottle group at the refueling station to the hydrogen storage tank at the hydrogen production station; The hydrogen refueling capacity of this phase is 500kg/12h, and it is planned to be put into trial operation in September. After the hydrogen refueling station is put into operation, with the operation of hydrogen energy heavy-duty trucks, the hydrogen production will gradually increase, further accelerating the transformation of resource advantages into economic advantages and helping the local social and economic development.
The abandoned hydrogen production project at the Beijing Energy One Million Kilowatt Wind and Solar Power Base has promoted the consumption of renewable energy, propelled the development of the hydrogen energy industry, assisted local energy transformation, and contributed to the economic development of the surrounding areas.
