Recently, Dongfang International, a subsidiary of Dongfang Electric Group, successfully signed a contract for the complete electromechanical project of the Koisha Hydropower Station in Ethiopia, which is currently the largest single unit capacity hydropower project exported by a Chinese independent brand to Africa.

The Khoisha Hydropower Station is located on the Omo River in southwestern Ethiopia, about 500 kilometers away from the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa. It is the fourth cascade hydropower station in the Omo River cascade development in the country, located downstream of the Jibu 3 Hydropower Station. Keywords: the Belt and Road news, the Belt and Road project, overseas project.

The total installed capacity of the project is 1800 megawatts, with a total of six 300 megawatt vertical mixed flow units installed. Dongfang Electric will provide the mechanical and electrical equipment and installation services for the factory building and switch station, including all six sets of hydroelectric generators. After the completion of the power station, the annual power generation will exceed 6 billion kilowatt hours, reducing carbon emissions by about 1 million tons, which will effectively ensure Ethiopia's energy security and support the country's economic and social development.
