On the morning of January 20, 2025, Indonesian President Prabowo Subiyando attended the completion ceremony of the Jatigde Hydroelectric Power Station project undertaken by China Electric Power Construction Corporation. Overview of Hydroelectric Power Station Project

The Jiatigide Hydropower Station is a water diversion and power generation project that utilizes the already built Jiatigide Reservoir (with a storage capacity of 1.062 billion cubic meters) to extract water for power generation. The power station is equipped with two 55 MW units, with a designed reference flow rate of 73 cubic meters per second. The main buildings include water diversion tunnels, pressure regulating shafts, pressure pipelines, semi buried main power houses, switch stations, tailwater pressure regulating chambers, tailwater tunnels, and downstream regulating gates and dams. The project is invested by the Indonesian State Power Company and implemented by China Power Construction in EPC mode.

China Power Construction's milestone in Indonesia

As the first hydropower project successfully implemented by China Electric Power Construction in the Indonesian market, the construction process of the Jiatigide Hydropower Station is full of challenges. During the construction process, the project encountered multiple difficulties, such as delayed handover of land acquisition in the powerhouse construction area and the regulating dam, tunnel collapse, mud and water inrush, surrounding rock deformation, and the COVID-19. At present, the hydropower station has been operating safely for more than 6 months, and all performance indicators have met the design requirements.
