Huawei revealed that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to provide technology including artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things and private 5G to the large airport under construction by King Salman International Airport Development Corporation of Saudi Arabia (KSIADC).

The two companies signed a memorandum of understanding during the latest LEAP2025 technical event held in Riyadh from 9 February to 12 February.Huawei and KSIADC promise to “revolutionize airport operations and passenger experience ” by adopting the supplier’s ICT expertise at Kings Salman International Airport , which covers an area of 57 square kilometers and has six runways and terminals, a cargo and Logistics center and private hub.

The two companies said the collaboration was in line with Saudi Arabia’s “Vision 2030” digital goals and believed that this technology partnership is now crucial to “shaping the future of the industry.”Simon Zousiyi, deputy chief executive of Huawei's Saudi branch (see picture right), said that the memorandum of understanding highlights the company's strength in the field of aviation ICT and that both parties will "set new standards for global smart airports."Linda Schucroft, vice president of digital innovation at KSIADC (see picture left), added that the goal is to “set a new benchmark for innovation in the aviation industry.”The two companies said they intend to develop a digital customer platform that uses artificial intelligence to smooth passenger interactions, including navigation, and provide personalized services.
