On March 6, local time, the 1 GW wind power project in Bukhara, Uzbekistan achieved fullcapacity grid-connected power generation. This project is the largest wind power project inCentral Asia, which is jointly contracted by China Energy Construction International EngineeringCompany, Zhejiang Thermal Power, China Power Engineering International Company, and NorthChina Academy. The construction of the project has injected strong momentum into the greentransformation and upgrading of Uz Energy.

Green energy engine deep in the Gobi

Deep in the Gobi Desert in Bukhara Prefecture, Uzbekistan, white fans that stretch for dozens ofmiles under the blue sky stand tall and neatly arranged, forming a magnificent landscape. This isthe wind farm of the Bukhara wind power project in Uzbekistan - the constantly rotating windpower giant converts the vast golden sand into green electricity, illuminating the boundless blueocean, and protecting this vast and ancient land of Central Asia.

The 1 GW wind power project in Bukhara, Uzbekistan is the first large-scale new energy projectof China Energy Construction in Central Asia. lt consists of two 500 Mw wind farms of Bash andZankeldi. The total installed capacity is 1 Gw, including 158 single-unit wind turbines with acapacity of 6.5 W. After completion and operation, it is expected that the annual powergeneration will reach 3.59 billion kilowatt-hours, which is equivalent to 7% of the national annualpower generation in Uzbekistan. it will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 1.6 million tons eachyear, significantly improve local power supply capacity, optimize the power structure, andbenefit millions of local residents.

"In October 2022, the project team organized a land reclamation team to go to the front lineplunging into the endless Gobi Desert, and driving into a desolate and uninhabited area ofhundreds of miles. Problems such as long-term sandstorm erosion, wind and dining, electricityand water shortage, extreme cold and low temperatures came to the face," Tan Chao, thenproject manager, introduced that the project team overcame a series of difficulties such asbackward industrialization, scarcity of materials and inconvenient transportation. In 2023, it builta camp with a total of 1,000 people working and living in the two wind farms of Bash andZankeldi in just 4 months, and officially began the dream journey of Central Asia's greenelectricity blue ocean.

Continuously breaking the Central Asian engineering construction record

"The beginning is the final battle, and the beginning is the sprint" is the consistent posture ofthe project team. in order to overcome many challenges such as local resource shortage, ultra-long-distance large-scale transportation, logistics customs clearance difficulties, remotegeographical location, and extremely cold weather construction, the project team hascoordinated to alternate construction and seize the proaress, At the same time, localizationconstruction is strengthened, providing local workers with a number of safety and skill trainingproviding personnel reserves, enriching personnel gaps, and ensuring the smooth performanceof the project.

Turning the clock back to the end of 2023, the Bukhara wind power project site is a busy scene.During the project execution process, the joint venture project team broke the performancerecords many times, and the construction "progress bar" was constantly refreshed.

Xiu Chunsong, chief engineer of the project, introduced that the project team actively carriedout technological innovation activities and developed creative technical achievements toimprove the efficiency of lifting and disassembly of 900T tracks in desert environmentsincreasing the project fan lifting efficiency from 40% to 68.09%, achieving a record of 50.5 daysof cumulative catch-up in 111 days, breaking the single-month highest record of lifting thelargest land-type fan in Central Asia, and creating a direct economic benefit of more than 6million yuan.

As one of the single projects with the largest transportation volume and the most complexlogistics conditions in the history of wind turbine land transportation, the project unit hasundergone land transportation of about 5,000 kilometers, spanning two customs, China-Kazakhstan and Ha-Wu. The cabin weighs 125 tons, the blade length exceeds 84 meters, thetower has a single heaviest 93 tons, and the maximum diameter reaches 4.8 meters. "lt is ourresponsibility to achieve continuous acceleration of logistics and transportation, and it is also animportant link for the project to fulfill its contract quickly and smoothly," said Li Cheng, deputyproject manager. The project procurement and logistics department made every effort to openup the domestic and foreign port links. In October 2023, 160 vehicles of large-scale goodsarrived in a single month, and the delivery of fans exceeded 14 sets in a single month, breakingseveral records of large-scale logistics and transportation in Central Asia.

The ability to build power on the Silk Road of Dream Building

In 2024,the China Energy Construction "Wuz Silk Road"employment empowerment planproject was successfully selected as the "Dream Silk Road" Youth Development Planimplemented by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League and the State-ownedAssets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council. As an importantparticipant in the action plan, the Bukhara Project Department not only provides thousands ofjobs for the surrounding areas, but also relies on the "Luban Workshop" classroom to providespecial technical and skill training for local young employees, providing internships and studyopportunities for young students of Tashkent National Jiaotong University, and focusing oncultivating a group of professional talents with outstanding capabilities in the fields of languagetechnology, business, etc.

The project department worked with local communities to go to Zankeldi Village School in thedepths of the Gobi Desert in Bukhara to carry out popular science education activities on windpower knowledge. From the prospect of renewable energy to the practical application of greenenergy, from the principles of wind power generation to how to use local clean and efficientwind energy, the vivid explanations of China Energy Construction employees have inspiredstudents to participate in scientific exploration and environmental protection actions, sowingthe seeds of green energy in the hearts of the younger generation in Uzbekistan.

In the long river of history, the Silk Road has witnessed the exchange of Eastern and Westerncivilizations and the prosperity of commerce, and the lingering camel bells carry countlessstories and dreams. Now, the giant wheel of the times is rolling forward, the Silk Road hasrejuvenated a new vitality in the new era, and the camel ringing has turned into a passionatemelody of green development.(This article is from the official website of Seetao.com, www.seetao.com.
