Recently, Iraqi Prime Minister Mohamed Sia Sudani attended the signing ceremony of the contract for the medical city project between China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) and Iraq during his visit to his office in New York. The contract amount for this project is 490 billion Iraqi dinars, approximately 374.6 million US dollars, making it one of the largest projects in the medical field in Iraq at present.
The medical city project includes 18 independent medical facilities, including 7 hospitals with a total of 700 beds, including the main hospital (200 beds), children's specialized hospital (100 beds), obstetrics and gynecology specialized hospital (100 beds), blood system and tumor treatment center (100 beds), internal medicine and digestive system specialized hospital (100 beds), emergency hospital (50 beds), comprehensive consultation outpatient center, multiple specialized medical centers, laboratories, research institutions and buildings, plasma machines and other dormitories. The first phase of the project has a construction land area of 315 acres (9.37 square meters), and the second phase has a construction land area of 415 acres (9.97 square meters).
Iraqi Prime Minister Mohamed Sia Sudani emphasized at the signing ceremony that the Medical City project and the fundamentals of the entire healthcare sector are important themes of the work, and pointed out the importance of the implementation and practice of the project to promote the development of other cities, especially the national healthcare regulations and the systematic application of government industries. He also emphasized the government's construction of "undertaking" services nationwide, completing the modernization process of development oriented medical services, and adopting a model of joint management and operation with international medical institutions.
