On March 24th, Yantai Port in Shandong Province officially opened its first direct international cargo route to Cuba. The maiden ship "Yunsheng", loaded with over 37000 tons of construction materials and vehicle equipment, set sail, marking the addition of another efficient logistics channel between northern China and the Caribbean region. The route is planned to operate 2 flights per month, and the second transportation task will be carried out by the end of this month.
As an important hub port for general cargo logistics in northern China, Yantai Port utilized intelligent cargo handling and intelligent loading and unloading systems during its maiden voyage to achieve efficient operations of "fast berthing, fast loading, and fast departure" for ships. Yantai Customs has simultaneously launched a new model for the supervision of miscellaneous goods, providing supporting services for the opening of air routes. At present, Yantai Port has opened 27 international general cargo routes to five continents around the world, and the shipping volume of general cargo liners will exceed 11 million tons in 2024.
The opening of this new route not only provides a new bridge for more than 200 types of "Made in China" products such as wind power equipment and special equipment to directly reach the American market, but also further improves the international shipping network layout of Yantai Port, injecting new impetus into promoting economic and trade exchanges between China and Latin America. In the future, with the normalization of shipping operations, this route will become an important maritime link for China Russia trade.
