As an important pole of inland ports in Shandong Province, Jinan Port's strategic position has been elevated to the core level of serving the ecological protection and high-quality development of the Yellow River Basin. The approved plan specifies a port shoreline of 11730 meters, with 1860 meters of long-term development space reserved, demonstrating the government's confidence in the long-term potential of the port. This is not only the construction of infrastructure, but also a crucial step in integrating the provincial economic circle into the national water transportation network, providing a more convenient channel for goods from the Yellow River Basin to go abroad.
Collaboration among one port and four districts
According to the plan, Jinan Port will establish an overall pattern of one port and four districts, no longer fighting alone. The main urban port area and Pingyin port area are positioned as important port areas, among which the main urban port area relies on the Xiaoqing River waterway, focusing on the development of sea water intermodal transportation and iron water intermodal transportation. It not only needs to establish a large base for bulk cargo transportation, but also gradually promote the conversion of bulk cargo to container transportation, and increase the proportion of container transportation. Pingyin Port Area is linked to the coal resources of Shanxi, Shaanxi, and Inner Mongolia, becoming an important hub for energy transportation.
