With the sound of a whistle, the Liaomeng Tiehai Intermodal Transport Chifeng International Land Port was officially opened at the foot of Hongshan Mountain. This logistics hub spanning the coast of Liaoning and the hinterland of eastern Mongolia is using an innovative model of single customs clearance to directly move the sea outlet to the doorstep of entrepreneurs, injecting strong momentum into the northern extension of the Northeast Sea Land Corridor.

Logistics hub landing
On the morning of April 15, 2026, the unveiling of the Chifeng International Land Port and Customer Service Center of Liaogang Group marked the first deep coverage of port service functions in the eastern region of Mongolia. As a national demonstration zone for undertaking industrial transfer, Chifeng City has delivered impressive foreign trade results in 2025: the total import and export volume increased by 10.9% year-on-year, ranking second in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in terms of total volume.

However, not along the border or by the sea was once a bottleneck that hindered its development. Nowadays, relying on the newly established international land port, local enterprises can directly handle port import and export business locally. Through the sea rail intermodal single unit mode, the efficiency of cargo clearance has been improved by more than 30%, and the comprehensive logistics cost has been significantly reduced. This not only solves the pain points of goods being difficult to export and expensive to go abroad in the eastern region of Mongolia, but also provides strong support for building a northern gateway.

Three parties sign a memorandum of understanding
At the ceremony, Liaogang Group, China Railway Shenyang Bureau Group, and Chifeng Municipal Government jointly signed a memorandum of cooperation, outlining a blueprint for the coordinated development of coastal and inland areas. The eastern Mongolia region is adjacent to the three provinces of Liaoning, Jilin and Heilongjiang, and borders Russia and Mongolia. It is a key node for the joint construction of the the Belt and Road. This cooperation will focus on promoting the improvement and expansion of sea rail intermodal transportation, utilizing the route network of Liaogang Group and the railway capacity of Shenyang Bureau, breaking down administrative barriers, and achieving efficient flow of resource elements. This is not only a physical connection of logistics channels, but also a deep integration of industrial and supply chains, which will effectively promote the formation of a new pattern of complementary advantages and openness in the Northeast region. Keywords: land port logistics, interconnectivity

From the banks of the Liao River to the southern foothills of the Greater Khingan Range, this new railway sea intermodal artery with a total length of hundreds of kilometers is reshaping the logistics map of Northeast Asia. With the relocation of port functions and the encryption of railway networks, Chifeng is no longer an inland endpoint, but an open starting point. A golden channel connecting Russia and Mongolia, radiating to Northeast China, and reaching the world is accelerating its formation.Editor/Cheng Liting
