Recently, Iraq and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have launched a major renewable energy initiative in the energy sector, jointly promoting efforts in power generation and energy infrastructure development between the two countries. Abdullah Matar Al Mazrouei, the UAE Ambassador to Iraq, met with Ziyad Ali Fadhil, the Iraqi Minister of Electricity, to delve into the details of this plan.

During the meeting, Ambassador Al Mazrouei revealed that Iraq and the UAE are poised to sign a significant agreement to construct a 1,000-megawatt (1GW) solar power plant in Iraq. The project will be led by Masdar, a renowned renewable energy company in the UAE, acclaimed for its extensive expertise in solar energy and sustainable energy solutions.

Iraq has expressed that through collaboration with leading UAE companies like Masdar, the country will accelerate its transition to renewable energy, improve its power supply situation, and strongly support environmental sustainability.
