The commissioning ceremony of the second phase of the Kribi deep-water port project in Cameroon undertaken by China Harbor Engineering Co., Ltd. (China Harbor) was held at the Kribi deep-water port terminal on May 9.
During the ceremony, the Kribi Port Authority signed an agreement with the Kribi Container Terminal Operating Company, a joint venture between China Harbor, Africa Global Logistics and CMA CGM, to operate the second phase of the Kribi Deepwater Port during the concession period.
Cameroon's Minister of Transport, Jean-Ernest Massénae Ngalé Bibeé, said at the ceremony that the commissioning of the second phase of the Kribi deep-water port project opens a new era for the country's economic growth and will help transform the country's economic structure.
Chen Ze, general manager of the Central Africa Regional Management Center of China Harbor, said that the Kribi deep-water port is one of the flagship projects of China-Qatar cooperation, and the throughput of container berths in the first phase of the project has exceeded the design through put of the port. As one of the operational participants, China Harbour is confident in the operation of the second phase of the port and the sustainable development of the local area.
The second phase of the Kribi Deepwater Port project, with a contract value of about US$794 million, started construction in December 2019 and was officially delivered to the Kazakh side in February this year.(This article is from the official website of Seetao www.seetao.com.
