On May 9, the official account of the Karamay Municipal Bureau of Commerce of Xinjiang released the investment promotion news for the construction of 5GW photovoltaic modules and 1GW perovskite solar photovoltaic module intelligent manufacturing production base.

With a total investment of 3 billion yuan, the project is located in the Cloud Computing Industrial Park (Digital Economy Industrial Park) in Karamay District, Karamay City, Xinjiang, with a proposed land area of about 200 acres, and the project will build an intelligent manufacturing production base of 5GW photovoltaic modules and 1GW perovskite solar photovoltaic modules.

Among them, the equipment investment is 1 billion yuan, the civil engineering and mechanical and electrical installation is 800 million yuan, the working capital is 600 million yuan, and the other expenses are 600 million yuan. The building covers an area of about 80,000 square meters, and about 100,000 square meters of workshops, warehouses, comprehensive building dormitories and other supporting facilities are built.

At present, the total area of the photovoltaic area in Karamay City is 555,700 mu (predicted installed capacity of 14.45GW), the total area of used land is 175,400 mu (installed capacity of 4.4GW), the proposed land for reserve projects is 65,000 mu (proposed installed capacity of 2GW), the current sand field, national highway avoidance area, major power line avoidance area, deep ditch, steep slope and other difficult to develop and utilized land plots of 49,700 mu, and the total area of unused land is 265,600 mu (estimated to undertake 8.05GW).
