On May 15, the groundbreaking ceremony of the Corat photovoltaic project in Croatia undertaken by North International Cooperation Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as North International) and Shandong Electric Power Engineering Consulting Institute Co., Ltd. was held, and Croatian Prime Minister Plenkovic and Chinese Ambassador to Croatia Qi Qianjin attended the ceremony.
The 99 MW PV project in Corrat, Croatia is the largest PV project in Croatia to date, which is expected to provide 165 million kWh of green electricity per year after completion, which will not only meet the electricity needs of about 50,000 households in Croatia, but also is expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 150,000 tons per year, providing impetus for Croatia to promote energy transition and develop a green economy. The project is scheduled to be connected to the grid for power generation in April 2026.
Qi Qianqian, Chinese Ambassador to Croatia, said that this project reflects the global competitiveness of Chinese enterprises in the field of green infrastructure. "From wind power projects in the Balkans to photovoltaic projects in the Adriatic Sea, Chinese companies are taking concrete actions to help their partners achieve energy independence and sustainable development." According to reports, the project adopts the general contracting model of "one-stop turnkey project and operation and maintenance services", and the Chinese team will provide full-cycle technical support for two years to ensure that the operation efficiency of the power station reaches the international leading level.
After completion, it is expected to provide 165 million kWh of green electricity per year, which will not only meet the electricity needs of about 50,000 households in Croatia, but also reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 150,000 tons per year, providing impetus for Croatia to promote energy transition and develop a green economy.
The Republic of Croatia is located in south-central Europe, with Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro as neighbors in the east and southeast, and is the gateway to Central and Southeastern Europe.
The project site leader said that the engineering team will strictly follow EU environmental standards and adopt an eco-friendly construction plan to minimize the impact on the local natural landscape. It is expected that when connected to the grid in April 2026, the Kolat PV plant will become a green pearl on the Adriatic coastline, continuously delivering clean electricity to Croatia and the entire South-Eastern European region. The successful implementation of this project marks a new level of cooperation between China and Croatia in the field of green energy, and contributes wisdom and strength to building a clean and beautiful world.(This article is from the official website of Seetao www.seetao.com.
