The Kendal Special Economic Zone in Central Java, Indonesia has reached an important milestone - the PT Trina Mas Agra Indonesia (TMAI) factory, jointly invested by Trina Solar, Sunac Group, PLN, and Agra Surya Energy, has been officially unveiled, marking the start of operation of the country's largest integrated production base for solar cells and modules.

The total investment of this project exceeds 1.5 trillion Indonesian rupiah (approximately 657 million yuan), and it adopts industry-leading TOPCon technology to produce high-performance components with a conversion efficiency of 23.2% and a maximum power of 720W. The current production capacity is 1GW, and plans to expand to 3GW in the future, which is expected to significantly improve the level of Indonesia's local photovoltaic supply chain.

Although the proportion of renewable energy in Indonesia is currently only 14%, the government plans to increase this proportion to 23% by 2029. According to Indonesia's "2022-2034 Electricity Supply Business Plan", the target for solar power installation is set at 17.1GW, and the commissioning of the TMAI factory will be an important support for achieving this vision.

However, industry challenges remain prominent. Research data shows that local component prices in Indonesia are 30% -45% higher than imported products, mainly due to financing difficulties caused by the lack of key certifications. Analysts point out that if breakthroughs can be made in the construction of standard systems and cost control, the photovoltaic industry in Indonesia will usher in broader development space.
