On July 2, 2025, China's new energy enterprises will achieve another good performance in overseas markets. Following Goldwind's 234 MW Riyah 1&2 wind power project in Oman in May, Kinpan Technology today officially announced that it has won the bid for the supply of external box transformer equipment for the project, marking a breakthrough for Chinese enterprises in the overseas wind power market from core equipment to grid access technology.
Jointly developed by Oman's national energy company OQAE and France's TotalEnergies, the 234-megawatt project spans the provinces of Dufar and Alvusta, and is the largest wind power project in Oman to date. The project is expected to generate electricity to meet the needs of 100,000 households and reduce carbon emissions by 740,000 tons per year, which will strongly support Oman's "Vision 2040" and "Net Zero 2050" goals.
In terms of technical solutions, Goldwind provides customized "climate-adaptable" wind turbines, which are optimized for the average annual wind speed of 8 m/s and the high temperature and drought environment in the Middle East. Kinpan Technology provides pre-installed box-type substation solutions to ensure the efficient grid connection of wind power, demonstrating the reliability of China's power equipment in extreme environments.
In particular, the project creates a new model of transformation in the Middle East, where green electricity feeds back traditional energy, and the generated green electricity will be directly used to decarbonize the oil and gas operations of the Oman Petroleum Development Company (PDO). At the same time, the cooperation between China, France and Argentina enterprises has formed a sustainable cooperation model of "technology going overseas + localized operation + international capital".
As a listed company in the Science and Technology Innovation Board, Kinpan Technology has rich experience in the field of power equipment. As of June 30, 2025, its dry-type transformer products have been used in about 86 countries and regions around the world, and about 16,000 units have been indirectly or directly exported to overseas wind farm projects. The collaboration with Goldwind not only demonstrates the overall competitiveness of China's new energy industry chain, but also provides a complete "China System Solution" for new energy infrastructure in the Middle East.(This article is from the official website of Seetao www.seetao.com.
