Türkiye will hold large-scale bidding for renewable energy resource area (YEKA) in November and December this year. It plans to allocate 2000 MW of wind and solar energy capacity in 12 provinces, which is expected to attract a total investment of about 3.3 billion dollars, including about 2.3 billion dollars for wind power and about 1 billion dollars for photovoltaic. This bidding aims to reduce dependence on imported energy, expand the scale of clean energy, and strengthen the domestic renewable energy manufacturing industry foundation.

YEKA bidding adopts a special bidding mechanism, with a maximum purchase price of 5.50 euro cents per kilowatt hour for electricity. The minimum bidding price for wind power projects is 3.50 euro cents per kilowatt hour, while for photovoltaic projects it is 3.25 euro cents per kilowatt hour. If the quotation reaches the bottom price, investors will compete around the contribution fee (minimum 10000 euros/megawatt). The winning bidder can first sell electricity in the free market (72 months for wind power and 60 months for photovoltaics), and then enjoy a 20-year government guarantee for purchasing electricity.

In addition to YEKA project, Türkiye also actively promotes the construction of floating photovoltaic power stations. The 35 MW floating photovoltaic project located in the Demirkopuru Dam Reservoir in Manisa Province is expected to invest $20 million, which can not only reduce water evaporation but also form complementary power generation with hydropower stations.

In order to reach the 2035 energy target, Türkiye recently adopted a reform bill to simplify the approval process and accelerate the implementation of energy projects. The government also plans to construct 14700 kilometers of high-voltage direct current transmission lines with a capacity of 40 gigawatts, add 15000 kilometers of AC lines, and significantly enhance cross-border power exchange capabilities.

Industry representatives pointed out that this large-scale bidding will strongly drive the development of local renewable energy equipment manufacturing industry and enhance Türkiye's technical strength and industrial chain integrity in this field. Editor/Yang Beihua
