In the fierce competition of the new energy vehicle market, independently mastering core three electric technologies has become the key for car companies to build long-term advantages. Recently, Chery Automobile has made a breakthrough in the field of power batteries: its subsidiary Deyi Energy has launched a 20GWh power battery project in Suzhou, Anhui. At the same time, Chery's incubated Anwa Technology has obtained a 1GWh solid-state battery order from Horizon Robotics in North America, marking a substantial step forward in the commercialization of solid-state batteries.
Project Launch, Creating a Core Base for Battery Self Research
On December 8th, Deyi Energy's annual production of 20GWh power batteries project was officially launched in Dangshan County, Suzhou City. The project took only four months from signing in August 2025 to launch, and was listed as the "number one project" for industrial development by the local government. The project is located in Dangshan Economic Development Zone, covering an area of about 600 acres with a total investment of 4 billion yuan. It plans to build a highly automated production line, covering a variety of battery products from 55Ah to 166Ah, fully compatible with hybrid, extended range, and pure electric platforms. The project is expected to reach production by the end of 2027, which will drive the development of the surrounding supporting industrial chain and help Suzhou build a complete new energy industry ecosystem.

Multi base layout forming, constructing a complete battery industry map
In addition to the Suzhou base, Deyi Energy has completed production capacity and research and development layout in Zongyang, Tongling and Wuhu, Anhui. The total investment of Zongyang Base exceeds 10 billion yuan, with an overall planned production capacity of 20GWh. The second phase of production capacity of 17GWh is expected to be completed and put into operation in April 2026, producing extended range, 800V high-voltage and pure electric platform dedicated battery cells. The Wuhu project is positioned as a battery headquarters and research and development center, focusing on the development of new high-performance battery technologies. At this point, Chery has formed a battery self-developed and self-made system with DeYi Energy (battery cells) and Qida Power as the core, providing solid support for its new energy strategy.

Solid state batteries receive North American orders, accelerating commercialization process
While expanding production capacity, Chery has also made key progress in the field of next-generation battery technology. On December 1st, Horizon Robotics announced a partnership with Chery to acquire 1GWh of solid-state battery production capacity from Chery's Anwar Technology for its zero emission commercial trucks. Anwar Technology was founded in 2020, and its world's first GWh level solid-state battery production line has achieved the first batch of samples offline in July 2025, with a designed production capacity of 1.25GWh. The company has a clear production route for solid-state batteries: the first generation product has an energy density of over 300Wh/kg, the second generation will reach 400Wh/kg, and plans to launch an all solid state battery with an energy density of over 500Wh/kg in 2027. With the continuous expansion of self-developed battery production capacity and the commercialization of solid-state batteries, Chery is accelerating the construction of a full chain battery ecosystem covering research and development, manufacturing, and application. This not only provides a core guarantee for the rapid growth of its new energy vehicle sales - from January to November 2025, Qirui's cumulative sales of new energy vehicles have exceeded 800000 units, a year-on-year increase of 69.4% - but also lays a solid foundation for its long-term competition in the global new energy market.
