The flood control system in the Huai River Basin will add another crucial link. Recently, the feasibility study report on the adjustment and construction of the flood discharge area below Fushan on the main stream of the Huai River was approved by the National Development and Reform Commission, marking a key breakthrough in the preliminary work of the project and laying an important foundation for the comprehensive construction.

This project is a key flood control project identified in the "Huaihe River Basin Comprehensive Plan" and "Huaihe River Basin Flood Control Plan". It has been included in 150 major water conservancy projects in the country, 38 tasks for further Huai River control, and the "Yangtze River Delta Regional Integrated Development Water Security Guarantee Plan". After implementation, it will significantly enhance the flood control security guarantee capacity in the middle and lower reaches of the Huaihe River.

The total investment of the project is 6.94 billion yuan, of which 970 million yuan is invested in Anhui Province and the total construction period is 36 months. The main construction content includes dredging of the main stream of the Huai River, the construction of the Fengtieying diversion river, the construction and reinforcement of embankments, and the construction and renovation of various buildings. After completion, it will effectively enhance the flood discharge capacity of the river below Fushan, adjust the Pancunwa flood discharge area to a flood control protection area, and work together to solve the flood control and drainage problems in Baojiwei flood discharge area, Lihewa and other areas in Jiangsu Province.
