Recently, Goldwind Technology Co., Ltd. announced significant progress in its green hydrogen to green methanol project located in Xing'an League, successfully completing gasifier process validation and producing qualified green methanol. The project is invested and constructed by Goldwind Green Energy Chemical (Xing'an League) Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Goldwind Technology, with a total investment of 2.296 billion yuan. It is planned to produce 250000 tons of green methanol annually, using advanced biomass gasification technology and agricultural waste such as corn stalks as raw materials, combined with green hydrogen produced by wind power.

On September 30, 2025, the project achieved its first successful feeding, and the gasifier maintained stable operation under various working conditions. The methanol synthesis unit successfully completed the gas connection, marking the project's full process integration. As one of the first pilot projects for green liquid fuel technology in China, this breakthrough has made it the world's largest green methanol production facility.
It is reported that the project will be constructed in three phases. Currently, the second and third phase expansion projects have been launched, and it is expected that the total production capacity will reach 1.45 million tons per year after full completion. It will be built into a comprehensive demonstration base integrating "green hydrogen ammonia alcohol". The project has obtained procurement commitments from internationally renowned shipping companies such as Maersk and Hapag Lloyd. The green methanol produced will mainly be used in the field of ship fuel, providing a reliable clean energy solution for the low-carbon transformation of the global shipping industry. It is expected to reduce carbon emissions by about one million tons per year. Editor/Yang Beihua
