Recently, China Communications Construction Corporation (hereinafter referred to as "CCCC") successfully won the bid for a key highway construction project in the Yangtze River Delta region, with a bid amount of up to 7.2 billion yuan, based on its comprehensive advantages in the entire industry chain and rich experience in large-scale transportation engineering performance. The implementation of this project is not only an important breakthrough for China Communications Construction to deeply cultivate the core regional transportation infrastructure market, but also provides key support for improving the regional highway network, strengthening the interconnection of urban agglomerations, and activating new driving forces for economic development.

As a major transportation artery connecting the two economic circles of the Yangtze River Delta, the expressway project has a total length of about 68 kilometers and is constructed according to the standard of a two-way six lane expressway, with a designed speed of 120 kilometers per hour. The project route starts from the Economic Development Zone of City A, passes through multiple densely populated and industrial agglomeration areas such as County B and District C, and finally connects to the existing national highway trunk line. The construction project includes roadbed engineering, pavement engineering, bridge engineering (including 3 super large bridges and 12 large bridges), tunnel engineering (2 long tunnels), as well as 10 interchanges, 3 service areas, 2 toll stations and other supporting facilities. The planned construction period is 4 years. It is worth noting that the project passes through some ecologically sensitive areas and farmland protection areas, and incorporates ecological and environmental protection concepts in the design phase. A low impact development model will be adopted, and ecological protection belts, wildlife passages, and rainwater collection systems will be constructed simultaneously to achieve the coordinated promotion of engineering construction and ecological protection.

From the perspective of technological innovation, the project will comprehensively apply smart and green construction technologies to create a benchmark for modern high-speed engineering. During the construction process, digital technologies such as BIM building information modeling, unmanned aerial vehicle surveying, and intelligent compaction monitoring will be introduced to accurately control the entire construction process and improve project quality and construction efficiency; At the same time, promote new energy-saving and environmentally friendly materials, optimize road structure design, and reduce energy consumption throughout the entire lifecycle. In response to the complex geological conditions along the project route, the technical team has developed a special solution to ensure the safety of tunnel and bridge construction through advanced geological forecasting, surrounding rock monitoring and measurement, and other means. In addition, the project will also reserve interfaces for intelligent transportation facilities, which can be connected to the regional intelligent transportation management platform in the future to achieve intelligent upgrades of functions such as traffic monitoring, emergency dispatch, and information dissemination. The strategic value of the project far exceeds transportation itself, and will deeply empower the high-quality development of regional economy and society. After completion and opening to traffic, it will significantly shorten the time and space distance between cities along the route, reducing the travel time from City A to the core economic circle from 2.5 hours to less than 1 hour, greatly improving regional transportation accessibility. This will not only alleviate the traffic pressure on existing transportation routes, but also accelerate the cross regional flow of people, logistics, capital, and information, providing more efficient logistics support for industrial parks along the route, and helping to promote the cluster development of advantageous industries such as automobile manufacturing, electronic information, and modern agriculture. At the same time, the project will connect multiple tourist attractions and characteristic towns along the route, activate rural tourism and ecological tourism resources, promote rural revitalization and improve people's livelihoods in the area, and is expected to directly create more than 2000 job opportunities, indirectly driving the growth of upstream and downstream industrial output value by more than 30 billion yuan.

This winning bid is a vivid practice of China Communications Construction in implementing the national regional coordinated development strategy, demonstrating its core competitiveness in the field of large-scale transportation infrastructure. In the future, China Communications Construction Corporation will establish a professional project management team to strictly control engineering quality, safety, and progress, and make every effort to promote project construction. The completion of this project will further improve the layout of the Yangtze River Delta expressway network, strengthen the radiating and driving role of core cities, inject stronger transportation power into the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta, and provide replicable and promotable construction experience for similar major transportation projects in China. It will continue to contribute the strength of central enterprises to the construction of a national transportation power.Editor/Bian Wenjun
