Recently, the bidding for the franchise operator of the Rongwu Expressway New Line Rongwu Old Line to Jingtai Expressway section project has been successfully completed, and the winning bid result has been officially announced. This transportation infrastructure project with a total investment of 5.106 billion yuan, promoted by the Langfang Transportation Bureau as the implementing agency, marks the official entry of this section into a critical stage of construction preparation and will provide important support for the integration of transportation in the Beijing Tianjin Hebei region.

As a core component of the Rongwu Expressway new line, the project is located in Langfang City, Hebei Province. The total length of the route is about 24.3 kilometers, starting from the Tianjin Hebei border on the east side of Donggugang Town in Anci District, passing through Tangerli Town and Xin'an Town in Bazhou City, and Sanshengkou Township in Yongqing County to the west, and finally ending near Nandangzhuang Village in Liujie Township, Yongqing County, connecting the completed G18 Rongwu Expressway new line from Beijing Taiwan Expressway to Beijing Hong Kong Macau Expressway. The project is constructed according to the standard of a two-way six lane expressway, with a roadbed width controlled at 34.5 meters and a designed speed of 120 kilometers per hour. At the same time, a 1.9-kilometer-long Wailancheng Interchange connecting line will be constructed simultaneously.

In terms of engineering construction content, the project plans to construct 5 large bridges of 1448 meters, 4 medium bridges of 328 meters, 6 supporting culverts, 4 interchanges (including 2 hub interchanges, including 1 composite hub interchange), 10 separated interchanges of 2450 meters, as well as 33 passages, 2 overpasses, 1 service area, and 1 maintenance work area. The monitoring and communication sub center will be co located with other sections of the Rongwu Expressway new line to achieve resource intensive utilization. The project construction funds come from project capital, government investment in key transportation projects, and debt funds, and are promoted through a franchise model. The winning bidder is responsible for the investment, construction, and subsequent operation of the project.

The successful bidding has multiple strategic significance for regional development. At the transportation level, the project will further improve the overall traffic function of the new Rongwu Expressway line, achieve efficient connection between the old Rongwu Line and the Beijing Taiwan Expressway, significantly shorten the time and space distance between the towns in the southern part of Langfang and the surrounding core cities, and alleviate the existing traffic pressure in the region. At the road network level, as an important supplement to the Beijing Tianjin Hebei high-speed network, this section will strengthen the transportation connections between cities such as Tianjin, Langfang, and Baoding, and help form a regional transportation pattern of "smooth internal and external connections". At the economic level, the completion of the project will drive industrial linkage and resource sharing in Anci District, Bazhou City, and Yongqing County along the route, providing transportation support for logistics transportation and the development of characteristic industries. At the same time, it is expected to create a large number of job opportunities and inject new momentum into the high-quality development of the regional economy.

At present, the winning bidder has started the preliminary preparation work for the project, and will work together with relevant departments to carry out geological surveys, optimize construction plans, and other preliminary work. The project construction will be strictly promoted in accordance with the approval requirements of the Development and Reform Commission of Hebei Province. Industry insiders say that the smooth progress of this project will not only fill the gaps in the highway network in the southern region of Langfang, but also provide solid transportation infrastructure support for the in-depth implementation of the coordinated development strategy of Beijing Tianjin Hebei.Editor/Bian Wenjun
