Recently, Goldwind Technology successfully signed a 3GW wind power project agreement under the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF), providing a complete solution from intelligent units to full lifecycle operation and maintenance for this iconic mega wind power project in the Middle East. According to its "2030 Vision" aimed at reducing oil dependence, the country plans to achieve 50% of its electricity from renewable energy sources by 2030. The project is jointly developed by Saudi International Power and Water Company (ACWA Power), Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF), and Saudi Aramco, with China Energy Alliance as the EPC general contractor and Goldwind Technology as the core wind turbine supplier and solution provider. The project is located around the capital Riyadh and consists of a 1GW Shakira project and a 2GW Stella project. It will be put into operation in the fourth quarter of 2027 and the first quarter of 2028, respectively. Faced with the extreme environment of high temperatures and fierce sandstorms in Saudi Arabia, conventional wind turbine products are unable to meet the demand.
