On November 5, 2025, Unit 6 of China Resources Power Puqi Phase III 2 × 1000 MW ultra supercritical coal-fired power generation project, designed by China Energy Engineering Group Zhongnan Electric Power Design Institute and constructed by China Construction Group, successfully completed 168 hours of full load trial operation, marking the official full operation and power generation of China's first million kilowatt "six machines and one control" power generation project.

The project is located in the southern suburbs of Chibi City, Xianning City, Hubei Province. It is a key construction project in the "14th Five Year Plan" for energy development in Hubei Province. Two million kilowatt ultra supercritical secondary reheating coal-fired power generation units will be built, and advanced environmental protection facilities such as flue gas desulfurization and denitrification will be constructed simultaneously. As the core project of the integrated energy base of "wind, solar, thermal and storage" in the Chibi area, the project will generate an annual power output of 9 billion kilowatt hours after full operation, which can effectively meet the growing electricity demand in Hubei Province, significantly alleviate the pressure of power grid supply guarantee, enhance the flexibility of power grid regulation, promote the consumption of new energy in southeastern Hubei, and provide important support for building a "clean, low-carbon, safe and efficient" modern energy system.

The biggest technical highlight of this project is the adoption of the domestically pioneered "six machines and one control" design concept. By centralizing the control of systems such as machines, furnaces, electricity, networks, and auxiliary systems, it achieves high integration with the first and second phases of the project, innovatively realizing unified monitoring and intelligent scheduling of multiple units. The project control system adopts independently controllable DCS products based on domestic chips and operating systems, achieving the integration of main and auxiliary control systems, successfully breaking the technological monopoly of foreign enterprises in this field, and demonstrating the independent innovation strength of China's power equipment manufacturing.

In terms of technical performance, the project adopts internationally leading ultra supercritical secondary reheating technology, with main steam parameters reaching 32 megapascals/600 degrees Celsius, secondary reheating steam temperature reaching 620 degrees Celsius, and a design thermal efficiency of up to 48.91%. By adopting a twelve stage reheating system (including the No. 0 high-pressure heater) and advanced combustion optimization technology, the unit has achieved stable operation at a minimum load of 20%, greatly improving its climbing ability and fast start stop performance, providing excellent peak shaving capability for the power grid. In terms of energy conservation and environmental protection, the designed coal consumption standard for the two units is only 251.5 grams per kilowatt hour, which is about 20 grams per kilowatt hour lower than that of the conventional reheating unit. The efficient environmental protection treatment system built for the project, through advanced technologies such as "integrated flue gas collaborative treatment" and "zero wastewater discharge", not only achieves ultra-low emission standards, but also achieves the environmental goal of zero discharge of production wastewater, providing a demonstration model for the green transformation of the traditional thermal power industry.
