In 2025, the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan, SOCAR Green Energy Company, and China Datang Corporation officially signed a strategic cooperation agreement to jointly develop and construct a 100 MW solar power plant project in Azerbaijan. This important cooperation marks a new stage of cooperation between China and Arab countries in the field of clean energy.

According to the agreement, the cooperating parties will establish a dedicated project company responsible for the construction and operation of the power station, and at the same time form a high-level guidance committee to coordinate and promote the implementation of the project. After the project signing ceremony, Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov held in-depth talks with Chairman Lv Jun of Datang Group, and the two sides extensively discussed the prospects of future cooperation.

During the meeting, both sides focused on discussing the possibility of cooperation on the planned 2 GW large-scale offshore wind power project, and exchanged views on topics such as energy storage system construction and green energy corridor initiatives. In addition, the two sides also agreed to carry out in-depth cooperation in the cultivation of professional talents and exchange of advanced technologies in the field of energy.

It is reported that this cooperation not only involves the construction and operation of solar power plants, but also the upgrading and renovation of local energy infrastructure.
