A lithium iron phosphate factory with an annual output of 80000 tons is rising deep in the grasslands of Inner Mongolia. The construction of the main factory building, which was invested and built by Ganfeng Lithium Industry, has been basically completed and is expected to be put into operation in 2026. It will become a key link for this lithium industry giant to build a complete industry chain system.

80000 tons of production capacity to supplement key links in the industrial chain

The Xianghuang Banner Lithium Resource Comprehensive Utilization Project, invested and constructed by Ganfeng Lithium Industry Co., Ltd. in Inner Mongolia, is continuously advancing. The project relies on the abundant resources of its controlling company, Mengjin Mining. The total amount of lithium ore identified in the mining area has reached 72.443 million tons, and the amount of lithium oxide metal oxide is 450000 tons. In addition to the ongoing 80000 ton annual production of lithium iron phosphate project, Ganfeng Lithium's local layout also includes an annual mining and selection of 600000 tons of lithium niobium tantalum ore project (already in operation), an annual production of 20000 tons of lithium carbonate project (the first batch of commissioning products will be offline in July 2025), and an annual production of 2GWh battery cells and PACK manufacturing project. After these projects are fully completed, they will achieve an annual output value of over 20 billion yuan and build a complete lithium battery new energy industry chain.

Strengthening cost advantage with a total production capacity of 100000 tons

In addition to the 80000 ton project in Inner Mongolia, Ganfeng Lithium also collaborates with Anda Technology to build a 20000 ton annual production project for lithium iron phosphate cathode materials. After the two projects are put into operation, the total production capacity of Ganfeng Lithium Industry's lithium iron phosphate will reach 100000 tons. According to industry standards, 100000 tons of lithium iron phosphate can meet the production demand of 40-45GWh batteries, which will significantly strengthen Ganfeng Lithium's cost advantage in the field of lithium battery manufacturing. As of now, Ganfeng Lithium Battery has deployed battery projects in multiple cities across the country, including Ningbo, Suzhou, and Xinyu. The total planned production capacity of power and energy storage batteries has reached 144 GWh.

Diversified layout to address market challenges

Faced with the pressure of declining performance in 2024, Ganfeng Lithium achieved a turnaround from losses to profits in the first three quarters of 2025, with revenue reaching 14.625 billion yuan. While consolidating its traditional lithium business, the company is accelerating the layout of new materials. Among them, lithium sulfide, as a key material for solid-state batteries, has achieved mass production with a product purity of 99.9%, and has passed quality certification from multiple downstream customers, achieving stable supply. This layout reflects Ganfeng Lithium's strategic intention to actively seize the high ground of solid-state battery technology while promoting the iteration of liquid batteries, and to build a new moat for it in the fierce market competition.
