Recently, the bidding results for the general contracting of the construction and expansion project of the G50 Shanghai Chongqing Expressway from Dianjiang to Changshou have been officially announced, marking the upcoming comprehensive upgrade of this transportation artery connecting the main city of Chongqing and the northeastern region of Chongqing. As a crucial "eighth ray" in Chongqing's expressway network, this section has played a significant role as a passage since its opening at the end of 2003. This renovation will greatly enhance the traffic capacity and service level, further strengthening the radiating belt of the main urban area to the northeast of Chongqing.

Project Overview and Construction Standards
The starting point of the project is located in Taiping Town, Dianjiang County, passing through Chengxi Town, as well as multiple street towns such as Haitang, Yuntai, Shiyan, Longhe, Shuanglong, and Duzhou in Changshou District, and finally ending at Changliang Hub. The total length of the route is 45.62 kilometers. The project will expand and renovate the existing two-way four lane road that has been in operation for over 20 years, and increase the design speed of the entire line from 80 kilometers per hour to 100 kilometers per hour. In terms of expansion methods, except for a section of about 2.84 kilometers that adopts left side widening, all other sections adopt double-sided widening. In terms of lane configuration, the section from Taiping Hub to Yuntai Interchange will be widened to six lanes in both directions, and the section from Yuntai Interchange to Changliang Hub will be upgraded to eight lanes in both directions, with a corresponding increase in roadbed width to meet future traffic growth needs.
The project has a large scale and complex technology, with a total of 6 large bridges, 9 medium bridges, and 17 small bridges along the entire line. Some bridges will be demolished, rebuilt, or widened for use. In addition, it also includes a large number of engineering nodes such as overpasses, high fill roadbeds, and high slopes. There are a total of 7 interchanges along the entire line, including 3 hub interchanges and 4 general interchanges. The Dianjiang service area will be expanded, and new monitoring sub centers and maintenance work areas will be built. The project adopts a traffic organization model of simultaneous operation and construction, with a planned construction period of 3 years.

The bidding competition for the general contracting of this construction project is fierce, attracting three large consortia to participate. After evaluation, a consortium led by Chongqing Construction Engineering Group Co., Ltd. and composed of multiple enterprises including Zhejiang Jiaotong, Chongqing Jiaotong, and Beijing Yunxingyu has been selected as the first candidate for winning the bid, with a bid price of approximately 3.411 billion yuan. The second and third winning bidders are a consortium composed of Guangxi Road and Bridge, Sichuan Road and Bridge, and a consortium composed of Guangxi Road Construction and Anhui Traffic Control, with bids approaching 3.45 billion yuan.
