In the early morning, trucks loaded with tropical fruits from Southeast Asia lined up in a long queue at the Friendship Pass port, with drivers habitually rolling down their windows and waiting for clearance. But soon, such scenes will become history - on December 25, 2025, as excavators honk their horns and start construction in Pingxiang City, Guangxi, the second phase of the China Vietnam Friendship Pass Friendship International Port freight dedicated channel project officially begins. In the future, 14 intelligent lanes will emerge here, making cross-border freight transportation as smooth as "passing through a door".

The 'clearance revolution' from Article 6 to Article 14
The second phase of the project is jointly promoted by Pingxiang City in Guangxi and Lang Son Province in Vietnam, adding 8 lanes on top of the 6 lanes in the first phase. After expansion, the port will form 14 dedicated freight lanes (10 conventional lanes+4 smart lanes), achieving two-way traffic of "seven in and seven out". The person in charge of Pingxiang Port Office said, "This is the first smart freight lane cluster on the China Vietnam border, and the opening efficiency is expected to increase by more than 40%." As the largest fruit trading port between China and ASEAN, it handles an average of one million tons of durian, dragon fruit and other agricultural products annually, and the lane expansion will completely alleviate the congestion problem during peak hours.

Scan code to clear customs, unmanned driving lane debut
The four smart lanes are the core highlights of this project. By applying license plate recognition and intelligent scanning system, the clearance time for trucks will be reduced from 20 minutes to 3 minutes. The project technical consultant revealed that in the future, drivers only need to declare in advance on the APP, the channel camera will automatically verify, and the entire cross-border freight process will be unmanned. ”At the same time, the 3294 square meter freight parking lot on the east side has started leveling, which can accommodate 200 trucks for turnover at the same time, avoiding vehicle congestion.

China and Vietnam jointly build 1752 square meters of ecological forest
In addition to hardware upgrades, project innovation is integrated into ecological cooperation - jointly planting 1752 square meters of ecological forests in the China Vietnam Smart Port area. The representative of Lang Son Province in Vietnam stated at the groundbreaking ceremony that "this forest represents the sustainable development of both countries in cross-border infrastructure." In addition, photovoltaic lighting and rainwater harvesting systems have been introduced around the cargo yard to achieve a "win-win situation for customs clearance efficiency and ecological benefits. As the "throat" of the Western Land Sea New Corridor, the upgraded Friendship Pass Port will further consolidate the trade ties between China and ASEAN. The mayor of Pingxiang City looked forward to the construction site: "When the project is completed next year, this will not only be a logistics hub, but also a green and intelligent benchmark for China Vietnam friendshipEditor/Yang Meiling
