In the mountains of Samarkand Oblast, a key town on the ancient Silk Road in Uzbekistan, white wind turbines stand tall in the wind, injecting clean energy into the local power grid as their blades rotate. As the largest mountain wind power plant in Central Asia, the advancement of the Huantai Energy 500MW wind power project and the stable operation of the ACWA Power Karatau 100MW wind farm have jointly built a solid framework for China Uzbekistan green energy cooperation, injecting strong momentum into Uzbekistan's goal of achieving a 54% renewable energy share. These projects are not only examples of practical cooperation under the "the Belt and Road" initiative, but also "green bridges" connecting the two countries' vision of energy transformation and promoting regional sustainable development.

Extreme environments and complex terrains temper the resilience and wisdom of builders. The Karakalpakstan wind farm is located in the Republic of Karakalpakstan. Faced with the scorching heat, cold, and sandstorms brought by the arid continental climate, the construction teams from China and abroad overcame thousands of kilometers of logistics obstacles with the spirit of "steel camel caravan". In the event of sudden situations such as snowstorms and road closures, they worked continuously for more than 40 hours to ensure that the equipment was in place on schedule. On the technical level, the project integrates China's leading intelligent control technology with international standards. Mountain wind power plants maximize the capture of wind energy resources through precise terrain adaptation design and intelligent operation and maintenance systems; The Kalatao project is secured by a 25 year long-term power purchase agreement, establishing a stable and sustainable operating model. More importantly, technological empowerment and localized training are carried out in parallel. Chinese engineers and Ukrainian technicians pair up to teach each other, from equipment operation to operation and maintenance management, cultivating a group of new energy professionals for Uzbekistan.

The surge of green electricity is reshaping Uzbekistan's energy landscape and people's livelihoods. The Kalatao wind farm alone can deliver approximately 728 million kilowatt hours of clean electricity annually, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by over 400000 tons. After the completion of the 500MW mountain wind power plant, it will further meet the electricity needs of hundreds of thousands of households and effectively alleviate the country's seasonal power shortage. In the villages surrounding projects such as Buka, stable green electricity allows children to learn under bright lights, providing reliable energy support for small-scale processing industries and activating local economic vitality. These projects not only fulfill Uzbekistan's low-carbon development commitments in its 2030 strategy, but also enhance the country's core position in the Central Asian energy market through improved grid stability and regional power interconnection, writing a new era chapter of "Silk Road unity and common development".Editor/Bian Wenjun
