In the 1970s to 1990s, former Ethiopian President Mullatu Teshome traveled to China to study abroad, and subsequently pursued further studies at Beijing Language Institute (now Beijing Language and Culture University) and Peking University. During this period spanning decades, he not only mastered Chinese proficiently, but also completed the complete academic transition from bachelor's to master's and doctoral degrees.

During his studies, Muratu spent every day with Chinese teachers and classmates, forming deep friendships that crossed national borders. As a witness, he witnessed the tremendous changes in the early stages of China's reform and opening up, and witnessed the rapid development of China's economy and society. This experience not only shaped his knowledge, but also profoundly influenced his life trajectory.
Years later, Muratu still cannot forget that period of time. He expressed with deep affection, "I still miss the time when I studied abroad in China. China is my 'second hometown'. This special 'Chinese love' is not only a collection of personal memories, but also a warm story in the history of friendly exchanges between China and Africa.Editor/Cheng Liting
