The Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone Modern Grain Logistics (Industry) Demonstration Park Multimodal Transport Project, which is a key construction project of the city in 2026, officially started construction on February 8, 2026.

The total investment of this multimodal transportation project is about 2.57 billion yuan. The main construction contents include docks, storage facilities, yards, and supporting service buildings. After completion, it will form a grain storage capacity of 300000 tons, greatly enhancing the grain distribution function and regional logistics transfer efficiency of Dagukou Port Area. It is reported that the project is divided into two parts: the dock and the land area. The land area plans to complete the construction of 220000 square meters of storage yards, warehouses, and auxiliary construction areas by the end of the year. The construction of a 300000 ton silo will be launched in the first quarter, and the dock construction will be launched in the third quarter. It is expected to be put into operation in the second half of 2028.

In the preliminary work of the project, the government department provided comprehensive guidance. After completing the approval of the project land use plan, the pile foundation construction permit was processed first, which enabled the project to start one month ahead of schedule and provided efficient services to safeguard the project construction. Wang Wenyong, the project leader of Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone Grain Safety International Logistics Co., Ltd., said that after the completion of the project, one 100000 ton grain dedicated terminal and one 100000 ton general terminal will be added, increasing the number of grain and oil dedicated terminals in the port area to four. At the same time, the loading and unloading efficiency of the dock gantry crane will be increased to 750 tons/hour, and the conveying efficiency of the belt conveyor will be increased to 1500 tons/hour, achieving significant improvements in both loading and unloading and conveying efficiency.

At that time, grain can be transported by sea to the port, delivered to the silo through gantry cranes and pipe galleries, and then transported to grain and oil processing enterprises in the area through conveying equipment, or transported to enterprises outside the area by truck. Later, a railway line will be planned to directly enter the port, achieving seamless connection between sea rail intermodal transportation and building an efficient logistics network.

The construction content of this project includes three portal steel frame structure warehouses with a span of 60 meters, transfer towers, lifting towers, as well as supporting comprehensive warehouses, comprehensive buildings, one-stop substations, etc. It is necessary to complete the installation of 10000 tons of steel structures within three months, complete 210000 cubic meters of lime soil backfilling within one month, and also promote the construction of 260000 square meters of interlocking blocks.

As an important grain import port and storage cluster in northern China, and the largest grain and oil food processing and reserve base in the north, Dagukou Port Area is located in the central area of the Bohai Economic Zone.
