On the coast of the Persian Gulf in eastern Saudi Arabia, a once barren land now stands as an industrial wonder covering an area of approximately 11.25 million square meters - King's Port of Saudi Arabia. This super shipyard, which is the size of 1560 standard football fields, is not only the core project of Saudi Arabia to implement the 2030 vision and promote industrial diversification, but also the fruitful result of the deep connection between China's the Belt and Road Initiative and Saudi Arabia's national development strategy.
On February 5th local time, Saudi Aramco held a grand final mechanical completion ceremony here. Saudi Aramco's Executive Vice President Jafari, Senior Vice President Mutaz, Vice President Nasser and other senior executives attended to witness this historic moment together. As a representative of the project contractor, China Power Construction was invited to attend and deliver speeches. Zhou Tiejun, Chairman of Shandong Power Construction Company, Fu Yadong, Deputy General Manager of Hydroelectricity Fifth Bureau, and Li Junqi, Deputy General Manager of China Power Construction Middle East and North Africa Regional Headquarters, witnessed this glorious moment together.

At the ceremony, the atmosphere was lively and solemn. Saudi Aramco awarded honorary certificates to project contractor representatives and project management teams, highly praising the project team for facing complex conditions, overcoming multiple challenges, and achieving high-quality performance during the construction process. Saudi Aramco Senior Vice President Mutaz stated in his speech that the King's Port project is an important strategic project for Saudi Arabia to promote industrial diversification and localization development. The successful completion of the project will greatly enhance Saudi Arabia's comprehensive maritime industry capabilities.
Li Junqi, Deputy General Manager of the Middle East and North Africa Regional Headquarters of China Power Construction Corporation, stated in his speech that the successful completion of the project by mechanical means fully reflects the high level of mutual trust and close cooperation between the two parties during the project implementation process. On behalf of China Electric Power Construction, he sincerely thanks Saudi Aramco for their trust and support during the project promotion process, and expressed his willingness to take this project as a new starting point, continue to deepen pragmatic cooperation between the two sides, and work together to promote the landing of more high-quality projects.
The completion of the Saudi King's Port project is not only about improving infrastructure, but also about achieving Saudi Arabia's national strategic security goals. The project includes 8 dry docks, 13 dock berths, and a complete set of supporting workshops and facilities, with the world's largest ship lift system and the longest dock in total length. The completion of this mega project will enable Saudi Arabia to build and maintain various types of ships and marine equipment.
This marks a significant improvement in Saudi Arabia's position in the global ocean engineering industry chain, officially entering the ranks of the world's top maritime powers. As Mutaz said, this project is of great significance in promoting regional economic development and improving the industrial system. It has successfully achieved the strategic security goals of Saudi Arabia's national oil transportation and national shipbuilding, laying a solid foundation for the comprehensive realization of Saudi Arabia's 2030 vision.Editor/Yang Meiling
