In 2026, Kazakhstan will fully launch various road projects, involving a total length of over 11000 kilometers of highways.

According to the overall arrangement of the 2026 road construction season, relevant departments will carry out new construction, renovation, and maintenance projects on 8900 kilometers of national highways and 2300 kilometers of local roads. Among them, the plan is to complete the construction, renovation, and expansion of 3500 kilometers of roads. In addition, as part of the national highway maintenance plan, it is expected to complete approximately 2000 kilometers of road surface repairs.

In terms of key projects, the Osinov Pass project in Donghai Oblast has entered the final stage; The reconstruction project of the road from Petropavlo to Kurgan in the northern Kazakh region will also be put into use.

According to the plan, by the end of 2026, the national road qualification rate is expected to rise to 95%, and the local road qualification rate will reach 92%, which will further consolidate Kazakhstan's strategic position as an important transit country along the the Belt and Road.

The meeting also reviewed the overall progress of new construction and renovation projects. The total mileage of related projects will reach 3400 kilometers by 2026. At the same time, multiple modernization projects for transit transportation trunk lines will be launched this year, including:

Kiziluorda Aktobe Highway: Start expansion and reconstruction, widening the original road to four lanes.

The Karaganda Jezkazgan project: The technical and economic feasibility study has been approved, and it is planned to start construction in the second half of this year.

The Beiniu Seczawule project: with a total length of 559 kilometers, it will shorten the transportation distance by about 900 kilometers after completion, and the travel time is expected to be reduced to less than three days.
