On March 9, 2026, the spring thunder rolled on the land of Xiangyang, and the renovation and expansion project of the Xiangyang section of the Fuyin Expressway officially started the excavation and relocation investigation of the entire line. This is not only the mechanical roar of the construction order, but also the charge for the integrated development of the Xiangshi Suishen urban agglomeration in Hubei. As a super project with a total investment of 18 billion yuan, this steel artery that runs through northwest Hubei is taking this as its starting point. It is designed with a two-way eight lane standard of 120 kilometers per hour, which will completely break the bottleneck of the original four lane traffic. The project not only plans to add 3 new landing interchanges and reserve 2 hub interchanges, but also demonstrates the speed of Xiangyang during the relocation stage.

The simultaneous progress of digging trenches and laying out lines along the entire line, as well as the investigation of housing relocation, means that this economic corridor spanning Zaoyang, Xiangzhou, Laohekou, and Gucheng is moving from the blueprint to reality with a sense of urgency that will not delay for a day. The heavy investment of 18 billion yuan is not only the cost of road and bridge construction, but also an advance layout for the regional carrying capacity in the next thirty years.

Activate the Ren and Du meridians of the metropolitan area

If the road network is the backbone of a city, then the Fuyin Expressway is the Ren Du artery that connects the Wuhan metropolitan area and the Xiangyang metropolitan area. As a key link in the national highway network, this project is not only the core channel connecting Wuhan, Xiangyang, and Yichang in the Golden Triangle, but also a pioneer in integrating northwest Hubei into the Yangtze River Economic Belt.

After completion, Xiangyang's radiation capacity as a provincial sub center city will grow exponentially - not only in terms of shortened travel time, but also in terms of the free flow of capital, technology, talent and other factors.
