At a critical moment when global economic governance is facing challenges and the multilateral trading system urgently needs improvement, China's economic and trade cooperation with African countries is once again bearing fruit.

On March 26, 2026 local time, taking advantage of the 14th Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organization, Chinese Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao and Nigerian Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment Ouduwole officially signed the "Framework Agreement on the Joint Development of Economic Partnership between the Government of the People's Republic of China and the Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria". This not only marks the 34th such agreement signed between China and African countries, but also injects strong institutional momentum into the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Nepal, conveying a firm signal to the world that both sides adhere to open cooperation and maintain the multilateral trading system.
The Framework Agreement stipulates that both parties will jointly promote the development of Nigeria's manufacturing industry and agricultural transformation and upgrading, enhance its global market competitiveness, help it better integrate into the global economy, and negotiate in areas such as liberalization and facilitation of goods and services trade, strengthening green development cooperation, investment, and digital trade. The negotiation and signing of the Framework Agreement is an important measure to implement the spirit of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee and the outcomes of the Beijing summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation of the Forum on China Africa Cooperation. It is also another important achievement of bilateral economic and trade cooperation between China and Nigeria, and helps to establish a long-term, stable and predictable institutional guarantee for China Nigeria trade and investment.

As the largest economy in Africa, Nigeria's cooperation with China has an important demonstration effect. The signing of this Framework Agreement not only provides a Chinese solution for Nigeria's industrialization process and agricultural modernization, but also lays a solid foundation for building a high-level China Africa community with a shared future.
