During the 15th Five Year Plan period, State Grid Corporation of China will accelerate the construction of pumped storage power stations and plan to start new pumped storage installations with a capacity exceeding 30 million kilowatts.

By 2030, the installed capacity of pumped storage in operation and under construction by State Grid will exceed 120 million kilowatts, providing over 150 million kilowatts of power regulation capacity, a surge of more than 70% compared to the end of the 14th Five Year Plan period. This astonishing increase is equivalent to rebuilding the regulating capacity of several Three Gorges power stations, which will completely solve the stubborn problem of "relying on the weather to eat" in new energy and install super stabilizers for the efficient consumption of wind and solar power.
