When the situation in the Middle East once again affects the global oil price nerve, the International Renewable Energy Agency has provided another solution with a set of data. In the past year, nearly 700 gigawatts of clean power installations have been added globally, and solar and wind energy are reshaping the world's energy landscape at a visible speed.

Photovoltaic and wind power contribute nearly 97%
The report shows that the total installed capacity of renewable energy worldwide will soar to 5149 gigawatts by 2025, with a net increase of 692 gigawatts for the year. Among them, solar energy alone accounted for 511 gigawatts of incremental capacity, while wind energy contributed 159 gigawatts, and the two together won 96.8% of the newly added capacity. The role of fossil fuels in the expansion of electricity has fallen to a historical low.

Asia monopolizes 70%, Africa breaks record for first time
Asia leads the world with an annual increase of 513 gigawatts, contributing 74% of all newly installed capacity, with a total scale approaching 2891 gigawatts. Driven by Ethiopia and South Africa, Africa's growth rate reached 15.9%, setting a record for the best performance in history. The Middle East region saw a strong increase of 28.9% driven by Saudi Arabia, while the cumulative installed capacity in Central America was only 21 gigawatts, with significant regional differences in temperature. Local green electricity strengthens energy independence
Geopolitical conflicts exacerbate fluctuations in imported fuel prices, and locally deployed renewable energy is becoming a buffer pad for countries to resist external shocks. The report points out that decentralized green power systems are more resilient in structure, and economies that invest in clean energy first have relatively less losses in this energy shock.Editor/Gao Xue
