In April 2026, a giant wind power installation ship named Zhengli 3500 was undergoing a special medical examination at the dock of Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industry. It is about to be given a new mission - no longer just the pride of Chinese shipyards, but to cross the ocean and tap into the European North Sea market, which has the highest threshold for offshore wind power in the world.

Giants join forces to modify super equipment

Dajin Heavy Industry and Zhengli Oceanic Engineering Co., Ltd. recently signed a strategic cooperation agreement, and both parties will jointly implement customized renovation of the Zhengli 3500 wind power installation vessel. This ship has a captain of nearly 144 meters and is equipped with a 3500 ton fully revolving pile crane. It can operate at a maximum depth of 70 meters and can complete the construction of large-diameter single piles and pipe racks for giant wind turbines of over 20 megawatts in one go. The renovation will strictly benchmark against European standards to ensure seamless integration of equipment into the harsh sea conditions of the North Sea.

Shift from selling equipment to outputting overall solutions

This collaboration has enabled Dajin Heavy Industries to make a crucial leap forward. Previously, its core advantages were focused on tower and foundation manufacturing. Now, through an alliance with Zhengli Oceanic Engineering Co., Ltd., its tentacles have extended downstream to sea transportation, port support, and on-site installation. A complete industrial chain that runs directly from the manufacturing workshop to the construction sea area is thus connected. Facing European developers, Dajin Heavy Industries will be able to provide a full process turnkey service from equipment supply, logistics coordination to offshore positioning. Chinese power embedded in global energy transition

This move marks the transformation of Chinese offshore wind power companies from single equipment exporters to exporters of full scenario solutions. Customers no longer need to deal with manufacturers, ship owners, and installation companies. Connecting to one port can package and solve all aspects. The Zhengli 3500 not only carries steel and hydraulic systems, but also China's system capability and ambition to integrate industrial resources and deeply participate in global green energy division of labor.Editor/Gao Xue
