The giant ship behind him is the China Huadian Vietnam Coastal Phase II 2 × 660000 kW coal-fired power plant - Vietnam's largest operating thermal power unit and a benchmark for energy cooperation between China and Vietnam. Since its commissioning in 2021, this power station has generated a total of 25.4 billion kilowatt hours of electricity, accounting for approximately 33% of the total electricity generation in Tra Vinh Province, effectively alleviating the "electricity shortage" dilemma in southern Vietnam.

Hard connectivity

Under the guidance of the Sino Vietnamese relationship of "comrades plus brothers", China Huadian, as the national energy team, has deeply cultivated the Vietnamese market and created a diversified matrix from thermal power to new energy.

The second phase of the coastal project located in Charong Province is not only large in scale (2 660000 kW supercritical units), but also technically hardcore. It was the first to achieve FCB function (fast load shedding) for 600MW level units in Vietnam, and overcome challenges such as anti-corrosion of coastal soft soil foundation. Since its operation, its unit project acceptance rate has been 100%, and it has won the "China Electric Power Quality Engineering Award" in 2023, which is a living example of China's standard "going global".

In addition to traditional thermal power, China Huadian has also laid out the Dele wind power project in Dole Province. The total installed capacity of this project is 4 × 50MW, with more than 70 wind turbines installed. The annual on grid electricity is about 612 million kilowatt hours, effectively filling the clean energy gap in the southern power grid of Vietnam. Faced with global energy security challenges, these projects have always maintained efficient operation and become a solid support for Vietnam's industrial and livelihood electricity consumption.

Energy cooperation is not only about building power stations, but also about transmitting technology and cultivating talents. China Huadian has injected human vitality into the Vietnamese power industry through school enterprise cooperation and cultural exchange.

Huadian Technology and Vietnam Electric Power University signed a strategic memorandum to establish an industry university research platform; Coastal Phase II Power Plant collaborates with LIAMA2 Vietnam International Technical University to provide skills training and internship opportunities; The De Le wind power project also collaborates with multiple universities to establish practical bases. This series of measures aims to cultivate localized talents with both professional competence and practical ability, allowing technology to truly take root in Vietnam.

In June 2025, China Huadian held the "Red Study Tour" Huadian Study Camp for Vietnamese youth, inviting 25 Vietnamese energy youth to visit Kunming and Nanning. Jia Mingyue, the financial assistant of the De Le Wind Power project, expressed her emotions after participating: "This trip has allowed me to have a deeper understanding of the development practices of China Huadian, and truly appreciate the vitality and cultural charm of China's development." This face-to-face exchange has enhanced Vietnamese youth's recognition of Chinese technology and culture.

In February 2026, Vietnam Electric Power Group (EVN) sent a thank-you letter to Huadian Technology Co., Ltd. The letter particularly praised the efficient overhaul of Coastal Phase II and the smooth commercial operation of the first batch of units of Delo Wind Power. EVN looks forward to further expanding mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of power energy.
