Recently, the bidding announcement for the survey and design of the Hezhou Hengqin section of the Guangzhou Zhuhai Macau Railway project was officially released, marking that the project is steadily advancing towards its goal of starting construction within the year.

According to the bidding announcement, the project has been approved by the Development and Reform Commission of Guangdong Province to carry out survey and design bidding work in accordance with the "Reply on Bidding Matters Related to the Hezhou Hengqin Section of Guangzhou Zhuhai (Macau) Railway Project" (Yue Fa Gai Zhao Biao Approval [2026] No. 3). The project construction funds come from financial funds, and the bidding work is undertaken by Guangdong Railway Construction Investment Group Co., Ltd.

Project Overview

The Hezhou to Hengqin section of the Guangzhou Zhuhai Macau high-speed railway is located within Guangdong Province, with the northern end starting from Hezhou Station in Zhuhai and the southern end ending at Hengqin Station. The total length of the newly built main line is 15.6 kilometers, including about 2.5 kilometers of bridges and 12.1 kilometers of tunnels. The bridge tunnel ratio of the project is as high as 93.6%, and the designed driving speed is 250 kilometers per hour. The estimated project investment is about 10.065 billion yuan.

This bidding covers the survey, preliminary design, and special research during the preliminary design phase of the Hezhou Hengqin section of the Guangzhou Zhuhai Macau Railway project, as well as construction drawing design, CP III surveying and other related content. This bidding is divided into one section, and the survey and design service period starts from the date of contract signing until the project passes the completion acceptance. The maximum bidding price for the project is RMB 145.94 million. It is reported that as a south-north national railway trunk line with a design speed of 350 kilometers per hour on the west bank of the the Pearl River Estuary, the Guangzhou Zhuhai Macao High speed Railway has attracted wide attention since its planning and construction. In the 2026 work report of the Guangdong Provincial Government, it has been clearly proposed that the construction of the Hezhou Hengqin section of the Guangzhou Zhuhai Macao High speed Railway will start.

The Guangzhou Zhuhai Macao High speed Railway is a key component of the main channel of the Beijing Harbin Beijing Hong Kong Macao High speed Railway. As an important section of the Guangzhou Zhuhai Macao High speed Railway, this project can be connected to the Zhuhai Hezhou Gaoming section of the Zhuhai Zhaoqing High speed Railway and the Guangzhou Zhanjiang High speed Railway before the completion and opening of the entire line, forming a westbound passage from Guangzhou to Zhuhai to Macau via Foshan and Jiangmen, further improving the comprehensive transportation system of Guangzhou Zhuhai Macao. At the same time, the project connects multiple high-speed railway lines such as Guangzhou Zhuhai Macao, Zhuhai Zhaoqing, and Shenzhen Zhuhai, and is interconnected with the national high-speed railway network through rear lines, which can accelerate the integration of the Zhuhai Macao region into the national high-speed railway network and build a high-speed railway link for deep and convenient integration and communication between Macao and Hengqin Cooperation Zone and the mainland. At present, the location of Hengqin High speed Railway Station has been officially determined. The station is an underground three-level super transportation hub, arranged according to the standard of three platforms and six lines, with reserved conditions for the extension of Macau light rail and "one place, two inspections" inspection space.
