With the public announcement of the selection of cooperative units for investors in the Nanchong Dazhu Expressway project, this highly anticipated transportation artery in Northeast Sichuan has finally been unveiled.

Sichuan Highway and Bridge Construction Group Co., Ltd. has taken the lead in fierce competition and become the first selected candidate, marking that the super project with a total investment of nearly 17 billion yuan is about to enter the substantive promotion stage. This steel dragon spanning Nanchong, Guang'an, and Dazhou cities is not only a key component of the "Sichuan Province Expressway Network Layout Plan (2022-2035)", but will also become the most convenient channel for Sichuan to travel eastward and reshape the regional economic and geographical pattern.

Giants join forces, billions of funds are in place

This selection can be regarded as the pinnacle of a strong infrastructure team's showdown. In addition to the top ranked Sichuan Road and Bridge, China Construction Third Engineering Bureau, China Construction Eighth Engineering Bureau, and Wuhan Municipal Road and Bridge also made it to the top four. As the leading force in highway construction within the province, Sichuan Road and Bridge holds multiple trump cards such as the Daduhe Bridge on the Yakang Expressway and the Huayingshan Tunnel on the Nanyu Expressway. Its construction capabilities in complex geological conditions are highly compatible with this project.

The total length of the project is 77.15 kilometers, adopting a two-way six lane standard, with a designed speed of 100 kilometers per hour, and an estimated total investment of up to 16.918 billion yuan. It is worth noting that the project also requires the simultaneous construction of four connecting lines with a total length of 10.3 kilometers, and involves the acquisition of 8597 acres of land and the demolition of 226000 square meters. The large scale and wide scope of the project put extremely high demands on investors' financial strength and overall planning ability.

Crossing mountains and rivers, conquering natural dangers

This is not an ordinary plain highway. The data shows that the bridge tunnel ratio of the project is as high as 44.06%, which means that nearly half of the journey will pass through bridges and tunnels. The builders need to excavate twin tunnels of 1745 meters and 8625 meters in the Huaying Mountain area, and build a super large bridge over the Qujiang River. They also need to cross the Yuxi High speed Railway and the Xiangyang Chongqing Railway. The geological conditions and construction environment are extremely complex. The control engineering plan is scheduled to start by the end of 2026, leaving limited time for the builders. Once completed, the travel time from Nanchong to Dazhu will drop sharply from the current 1.5 hours to around 40 minutes, and multiple national highways such as G42, G65, and G85 will be efficiently connected here. For Nanchong and Dazhou, which are committed to building the economic sub center of Northeast Sichuan Province, this is not only a road, but also a golden channel for accelerating the flow of people, logistics, and capital.Editor/Cheng Liting
