The Gannan Plateau, two major highways winding through the rugged mountains, has finally achieved a crucial winning bid.

On April 24, 2026, the bidding candidates for the two franchise projects of G345 Zhouqu to Maqu Shamudo Highway were officially announced, with a total investment of 31.47 billion yuan. The project is tendered by the Transportation Bureau of Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture and implemented through a franchise model. After the completion of the two projects, the key bottleneck section of G345 National Highway in Gannan will be opened up, forming a fast track between Zhouqu, Diebu, and Maqu counties.

Project 1: From Zhouqu to Yiwu Gou Kou, the bridge tunnel ratio exceeds 70%

The total length of the G345 Zhouqu to Yiwu Goukou section is 148.834 kilometers, including 60.161 kilometers in Zhouqu County and 88.673 kilometers in Diebu County. The technical standard is two-way four lane first-class highway: the design speed of the section from the starting point to AK13+000 is 80km/h, and the subgrade width is 22.5m; The remaining sections are designed with a speed of 60 kilometers per hour and a roadbed width of 20 meters.

In terms of project scale, the entire line is equipped with 102 bridges with a total length of 34784.8 meters, including 5 super major bridges, 87 major bridges, and 10 medium bridges. There are 57 tunnels with a total length of 70368 meters, including 4 extra long tunnels, 21 long tunnels, 14 medium tunnels, and 18 short tunnels. The bridge tunnel ratio is as high as 70.65%. The supporting projects include 8 interchanges, 2 service areas, 1 mainline toll station, 3 tunnel management stations, and 2 maintenance work areas. The total investment of the project is 24.926 billion yuan.

The first candidate for winning the bid is a consortium consisting of 20 enterprises including Gansu Provincial Highway Transportation Construction Group Co., Ltd., Gansu Road and Bridge Construction Group Co., Ltd., and Gansu Shunda Road and Bridge Construction Co., Ltd., with a bidding price of 24.926 billion yuan. Guizhou Bridge Construction Group Co., Ltd., ranked second, offered a price of 24.926 billion yuan. Sichuan Highway and Bridge Construction Group Co., Ltd., ranked third, quoted 24.926 billion yuan.

Project 2: Simultaneous construction of connecting lines from Langmu Temple to Maqu Shamu

The main line from G345 Langmu Temple to Maqu Shamu has a total length of 105.417 kilometers, including 14.784 kilometers in Luqu County and 90.633 kilometers in Maqu County, with a simultaneous construction of 7.993 kilometers of Maqu connecting line.

The technical standard is two-way four lane first-class highway: the design speed of the main line conventional section is 80km/h, the subgrade width is 22.5m, the design speed of the provincial boundary transition section is 100km/h, the subgrade width is 26m, and the design speed of the connecting line is 80km/h, the subgrade width is 22.5m.

In terms of project scale, the main line includes 26 bridges with a total length of 6631.48 meters, 1 tunnel with a length of 2540 meters, 5 interchanges, 2 service areas, and 2 toll stations on the main line. Two bridges with a total length of 174 meters are set up for the connecting line. The total investment of the project is 6.547 billion yuan.

The first candidate for winning the bid is a consortium consisting of 16 enterprises including Gansu Provincial Highway Transportation Construction Group Co., Ltd., Gansu Road and Bridge Construction Group Co., Ltd., and Gansu Shunda Road and Bridge Construction Co., Ltd., with a bidding price of 6.547 billion yuan. Guizhou Bridge Construction Group Co., Ltd., ranked second, offered a price of 6.547 billion yuan. Sichuan Highway and Bridge Construction Group Co., Ltd., ranked third, quoted 6.547 billion yuan.

The whole line of the two projects adopts the standard of first-class highway, with high bridge tunnel ratio and greatly improved traffic capacity. The project directly connects multiple important towns and tourist attractions, playing an important supporting role in improving regional transportation conditions and promoting the economic and social development of Gannan Prefecture.
