On April 22, 2026, a document from the People's Committee of Da Nang City bid farewell to the history of this tourist hub in central Vietnam without urban railways. While tourists are still anxious about the long traffic jam from Da Nang Airport to Hoi An Ancient Town, a steel artery that connects the airport and scenic spots, with a total length of over 100 kilometers, has already appeared on paper.

PPP model leverages billion dollar projects
The Da Nang urban railway will be promoted through the PPP model, with Da Guangming Real Estate Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of THACO Group, responsible for the survey and pre feasibility study at its own expense and risk. The total investment of the project exceeds 265 trillion Vietnamese dong, and the government only handles approval and supervision, without assuming any upfront investment. Enterprises need to submit complete documents before October 2026. If approval and investment promotion go smoothly, construction can begin in February 2027 and the plan is to put it into operation in 2032. This is also the first urban railway project in Da Nang, directly filling the gap in local rail transit.

Two stage series connection of three core nodes
The starting point of the route is Terminal 1 of Da Nang Airport, and the endpoint is directly connected to Zhulai Airport in Guangnan Province. It will be constructed in two stages. The first phase is about 30 kilometers long, with 14 stations connecting Da Nang Airport and Hui'an Ancient Town, covering core tourist areas such as Meixi Beach; The second phase is about 74 kilometers long, with 10 stations, extending from Hoi An to Chui Lai Airport, connecting Da Nang and Guangnan Province expressway. Tourists can directly reach the scenic area by getting off the plane, and there is also a one-stop shuttle service from Hoi An to Zhulai. Say goodbye to highway congestion during peak season, travel is controllable
At present, commuting from Da Nang to Hoi An only relies on highways, and traffic jams and expensive taxis during peak seasons are common. Every year, millions of tourists need to travel about an hour's drive to Hoi An after landing at Da Nang Airport. After the opening of this urban railway, the airport will be directly connected to Hui'an Station, with precise and controllable time, without transferring or blocking the road. The rapid connection from Hoi An to Zhulai Airport will also be achieved, greatly reducing the pressure on the highway system. Hotels, restaurants, and commercial districts along the route will be upgraded synchronously, and Da Nang's tourism transportation will transition from the era of dispersed highways to the era of closed-loop rail transit.Editor/Gao Xue
