Recently, the second investor bidding announcement was officially released for the renovation and expansion project of the Xiangyang Longzhong Interchange to Jingzhou Cao'an Hub section of the Second Guangzhou Expressway. The announcement clearly states that the total investment of the high-speed project is about 22.7 billion yuan, and it is planned to start construction on June 30, 2026. This project is located in Xiangyang, Jingmen, and Jingzhou in Hubei Province. The route starts from Longzhong Street in Xiangyang Xiangcheng District and connects to the Gaoying Interchange of the Second Guangzhou Expressway to Longzhong Interchange; The route goes south through Yicheng, Zhongxiang, Dongbao District, Duodao District, Shayang County and other places, and ends at Jinan Town in Jingzhou District of Jingzhou, connecting to the Jingzhou Ring Road section of the Second Guangzhou Expressway.

The existing project is a two-way four lane road with a designed speed of 100 kilometers per hour. This renovation relies on the existing road corridor, with the main method of widening and renovating on both sides. Some sections of the road will be newly separated and upgraded to a two-way eight lane standard with a speed of 120 kilometers per hour and a roadbed width of 42 meters. The total length of the line is about 177 kilometers, with a total estimated investment of 22.7 billion yuan. The northern section of the existing expressway starts from Longzhong Street in Xiangcheng District, Xiangyang, and ends at Jinan Town in Jingzhou, with a total length of about 177.4 kilometers.
