Recently, in the Benban Photovoltaic Park in Aswan Province, Egypt, the debugging lights for the last group of battery energy storage systems have been lit up one by one. The 120MWh battery compartment provided by Haichen Energy Storage and the inverter of Shangneng Electric operate synchronously under the scorching sun, marking the official entry of the world's largest photovoltaic industry park into the era of integrated photovoltaic storage.

Najahamadi builds a gigabit energy valley
The Najahamadi Energy Valley project, led by Scatec Norway, plans to construct a 1.95 gigawatt photovoltaic power station and a 3.9 gigawatt hour battery energy storage system. It has signed a 25 year power purchase agreement with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company, with a total investment of over 1.8 billion US dollars. Egyptian Electricity Minister Esmat revealed that the project also includes the second phase of a 500 MW solar power station in Najahamadi, a 900 MW red sea wind power plant, and multiple energy storage facilities, which will achieve all-weather clean power supply in the Wadi Silia new industrial zone. This is also the largest photovoltaic and energy storage project with a single capacity in Egypt.

The expansion of our park has entered the era of energy storage
Our photovoltaic park will launch an integrated expansion of solar energy storage in 2026, adding a 200 MW solar power station and a 120 MWh energy storage system, with plans to put them into operation in the third quarter. China Energy Engineering International Group, together with Zhejiang Thermal Power and Southwest Institute, signed the Nefertiti 1000 megawatt hour energy storage EPC contract in mid February, which is the largest independent energy storage project in Africa. Shangneng Electric provides centralized photovoltaic inverter solutions at the same time, and the participation of Chinese enterprises in the world's largest photovoltaic industrial park covers the entire chain from EPC general contracting, energy storage systems to inverters. Manufacturing capacity landing on the Suez Canal
Sunshine Power signed a contract in January to build a 10 gigawatt hour energy storage battery factory, with plans to start production in April 2027. GCL has signed a contract to develop a 5-gigawatt solar cell park, TBEA has built Egypt's first inverter factory, Huawei has signed a memorandum of understanding to promote localized production of grid based energy storage systems, and JA Solar plans to increase its energy storage capacity by 2 gigawatts of batteries, 2 gigawatts of components, and 1 gigawatt hour. From Najahamadi to Minya to Benban, China's new energy industry in Egypt is completing a three-level transition from an EPC contractor to a capacity provider and then to a co builder of the industrial chain ecosystem. Egypt has set a target of 45% renewable energy by 2028, with plans to increase solar installations by 3 gigawatts and battery storage capacity by 600 megawatts by 2026. The pace of green energy development is resonating with the output frequency of China's supply chain.Editor/Gao Xue
