At the port line in the hinterland of Central Asia, cold chain trucks loaded with fruits and vegetables are heading for Almaty, and the China Europe Express whistles through Khorgos. A trade picture of a passage with hundreds of billions more is spreading westward.

Port efficiency release channel dividends

In the first quarter, the clearance efficiency of land and air ports in Xinjiang increased synchronously. Khorgos Highway Port has opened a green channel for fast customs clearance of Chinese and Kazakh agricultural by-products, and has promoted the appointment of customs clearance by 7 times and 24 hours. It has exported 230000 tons of fruits and vegetables, an increase of more than 30% year on year. Yu Huan, Deputy General Manager of Khorgos Jinyi International Trading Company, revealed that efficient customs clearance has reduced the loss rate of fruits and vegetables from 5% to less than 1.5%, and orders have been placed until June. The northern terminal area of Urumqi Tianshan International Airport has been in operation for one year, with 249000 inbound and outbound passengers and 1928 international passenger flights in the first quarter, an increase of 57.7% and 37.8% year-on-year, respectively.

The trade structure is accelerating towards a high-end leap

Mechanical and electrical products accounted for 40.1% of exports, ranking first. Steel exports increased by 70%, and agricultural product exports increased by nearly 20%. The import side focuses on resource security and people's livelihood consumption, with metal ore and agricultural product imports increasing by 83.7% and 80.9% respectively. Processing trade surged by 428.1%, bonded logistics increased by 17.9%, and niche industries such as cross-border trade imports, market procurement exports, and export of contracted engineering goods grew by 97.1%, 57.5%, and 239.2%, respectively. Central Asian core and ASEAN incremental dual wheel drive

52.7% of imports and exports to the five Central Asian countries, with a stable position as core partners; The import and export to ASEAN increased by 30.6%, leading the growth rate in major overseas markets. The value of TIR outbound vehicles and goods at Takshken Port increased by 133% and 224% respectively, with high value-added electromechanical and precision instruments gradually replacing traditional low value department stores. Professor Zhao Qingsong from Xinjiang University of Finance and Economics pointed out that upgrading commodity structure and diversifying trade modes are the core support for stable growth. Xinjiang is relying on the advantages of new formats such as bonded processing and cross-border e-commerce in the pilot free trade zone, continuously reducing customs clearance costs, and consolidating the industrial and trade foundation for opening up to the west.Editor/Gao Xue
